Our first ever Rider Awards

When we started Deliveroo, it was just our CEO and Co-founder Will Shu and three other riders. Fast forward five years, and there are now 15,000 riders across the UK. There is no way we could have got this far without you and we felt it was about time we celebrate all the good that you do.

Riders had a chance to meet Will Shu

That’s why earlier this year we announced that we will be launching the Rider Awards, and this week, we held an event to celebrate this year’s winners who have really gone above and beyond for the cause.

Among the winners is Ralph, who cycled from South Africa to London for an amazing cause – Against Malaria Foundation. His team raised around £51.4k – an incredible achievement.

And then there’s Sam who rescued some customers who had locked themselves out on their balcony. The video of the heroic rescue reached more than 1 million views on LADbible!

Another rider, Archie, showed his dedication in the snowy weather earlier this year. Archie was filmed taking to the snow on a baking tray and sliding down the hill to deliver food to a customer – because he’s “gotta deliver that Nando’s!”

We were also joined by riders who have delivered record numbers of orders – including Muhammed, Junaid, Qamar, Filippo and Tom who have all been riding with Deliveroo for several years.

Not only were we celebrating the Rider Awards, but we were also joined by four riders from Belgium who cycled all the way from Brussels to London! Looking cool and relaxed despite their long journey that very day, it was great to see them getting out on the road together.

Whether you’re among this year’s Rider Award winners or not, we’re incredibly proud and grateful for everything you do – so a big thank you from all of us here at Deliveroo! Here’s to many more great celebrations!
